A year after releasing the year’s biggest hits, The Coopers have announced they’ll be heading back into the studio.
The band have confirmed they will be working on a new record, but have only announced dates for the new album, which will be released in February.
“I want to do something different, but I don’t want to have to change anything,” lead singer and guitarist Tom Waits told Rolling Stone magazine.
“It’s a big part of what we’re doing now, so we’re not going to change it.”
“It’s going to be something different.
It’ll be something we haven’t done since we started,” he added.
With their debut album, The Sound Of Music, the Coopers achieved their first UK number one hit, and are currently in the running for best rock band in the world, with a lead of seven albums to their name.
They are also the longest-running band in music history, with over two decades in the making, having released four albums, all of which sold more than 50,000 copies.
While it is not clear when the new record will be made, the band have already announced that the band will be taking a break for several months to focus on their new record.
“We’re going to get away from the studio for a while,” Waits said in a recent interview with Billboard.
We’re not really going to make any changes, we just want to make something that’s a bit different.
We don’t have to compromise.
“The Coopers are currently preparing for their next tour, which they are due to take to Australia in May.
