This is the second time Lucy Cooper has made a house for a neighbour.
She had bought her property from the government in 2013 for $1.2 million, and when it was sold to an independent developer, she said she couldn’t afford to pay for the house’s construction.
“I was looking for a house that was affordable for me,” she said.
Now, after working with Lucy Cooper and her family, Landus Cooperative has designed a free home for Lucy Cooper’s family.
The Cooper family has spent the last six months building the home, which they hope to live in for the next 10 years.
“We’ve had so much fun working on this,” Ms Cooper said.
“The house is just gorgeous.
It’s got everything.
It has a roof and a window and a big garage.”
Landus Cooper has designed the house as a place where Lucy Cooper can live and work with her family.
“It’s just a lovely house and a lovely place to live,” Ms Coper said.
Ms Cooper, who is studying for a Bachelor of Commerce degree, is currently completing a Masters of Construction and has already started to build the house.
“For the first time, I’m able to be here and be here with my family,” she added.
“This is what we’ve always wanted.”
A house that’s so big and beautiful Lucy Cooper said it took two years of hard work to design and build the new house.
After the family bought the house from the Government, Lucy Cooper found out that it would be demolished and her future home would be sold.
“That was a very hard moment for us,” she recalled.
“There’s a lot of hard times ahead, but we’ve worked so hard to get this house here and it’s finally going to be our home.”
Ms Cooper’s house is located on a property that was sold by the Government to a local farmer and landowner.
“He wanted to give it back to the community,” Ms Coopers said.
The farmer has agreed to donate the land to Landus.
The family is currently negotiating a sale with the farmer, but the Government said it had not yet made any decisions about the sale.
Ms C, Ms Cooper and their family are hoping the house can be theirs for the rest of their lives.
