Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) has long been seen as a partner of the U.S. to advance China’s economy, but its influence on U.K. power generation has grown as the country’s coal industry has been shuttered, and the country faces severe restrictions on its energy supply.
But the SCO is increasingly seen as the world’s biggest investor in its energy sector, with the U, France, Germany and other Western countries increasingly investing in the sector, despite their long-standing hostility to Chinese influence.
Cooperatives such as the Jackson Electric Cooperative, a partnership between Tesla and the Chinese state-owned firm Jiaotong, are in the forefront of the energy transition in the U and Europe, with China investing billions of dollars in the joint ventures.
“The SCO and Jiaosong have become a big player in the solar and wind industry in Europe and the U,” said Michael Fauci, the co-founder of SolarCity, which has been a major investor in Jiaozong.
“The Chinese are becoming a big participant in the European market as well, which is important for their ability to compete with the United States and other major players.”
Jiaosang has also recently expanded into the electricity market in Japan, which, despite its growing dependence on coal, is a key target market for the SCA, and where it will play a leading role in the countrys future energy development.
Jiaotongs solar projects in China have attracted international attention, with solar panels and batteries installed on buildings across the country and a solar power plant being built in Shanghai that will eventually power over 4 million homes.
SolarCity, based in the California city of Palo Alto, is the world leader in solar energy projects, and Jaiotong is also a major player in solar and battery technology.
Cooperators like Tesla, with its commitment to clean technology and a long-term commitment to a clean energy future, could also find themselves competing in a new and exciting energy space, with Jiaoshan and Japans solar power being the hottest topics in the coming years.
But if the SCOA is able to work with other players in the industry to help China move toward a cleaner energy future then Jiaochang could be able to win.
